Review of the Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain

While Pro Comp is fairly new to the offroad tire Market, the company has been making a name for itself in the quality of offroad tires that they have been developing for the offroad enthusiast.   The Xtreme All Terrain is a high quality example of one of Pro Comp's serious off-road tires.  While the Xtreme All Terrain is just that, an All Terrain Tire, it is one of the better All Terrains on the market with many quality features putting it near the top of the AT class, balancing on-road handling with offroad capability.  Highlights include 3-ply polyester construction, opposed angle steel belts, steel beads, a spiral nylon overwrap and what they call a bead flipper.

The mildly aggressive tread design offers decent traction in most off-road applications, including moderate performance in mud and snow to great performance in sand, dirt, and rock while offering the owner a quality ride on the street.

On the rocks the Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain Tires rely on their three-ply polyester construction, multi-layered sidewall reinforcement and advanced rubber compounds for exceptional traction especially at lower air pressures where an aired down tire will wrap well and conform around the rocks.  The moderately aggressive tread design with a generous amount of sipes in the tire lugs provide a good grip over rough, rocky terrain.

In Sand the the Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain offers good flotation over sand as well as adequate forward and reverse traction.

Mud is not the Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain's strong point.  As an All Terrain tire, there is a compromise and mud is inevitably the downside of any AT tire.  Similar to most AT tires traction is only moderate as the tires tend to clog with mud and require moderate to heavy wheel spin to eject the mud from the voids in the tires.  However this perspective is from what MT tires are capable of and as a true AT tire the Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain is among the better of the AT tires within it's class.

On the street the directional all terrain tread pattern works well in wet weather for improved traction.  A generous amount of sipes in the lugs enhances on-road handling and wet weather traction while the Pro Comp Xtreme A/T's computer generated tread pattern generates minimal road noise for a quiet ride.

As one of the better AT tires on the market, the Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain is equally suited for pavement as well as dirt.  Pro Comp tires are made with advanced rubber compounds, steel, and polyester cords and the result is a well-balanced offroad AT tire that offer excellent ride quality, handling and best-in-class traction.  A good choice for occasional offroader who needs a good weekend tire for the trails and a decent onroad tire for the commute with great longevity with even wear.   The Pro Comp Xtreme All Terrain comes with a 40,000 Mile Warranty and is available in a wide variety of sizes.

Rating  Key - The star rating keys are specific to the terrain being rated in the review.  To the Top
Don't even consider it if this is your main terrain. This tire will not perform well at all in this terrain.

Its trying but not doing too well.  You'd be better off choosing another for this terrain.

Average.  Its doing ok, not great but its holding its own.  A decent choice if you're compromising.

This tire does very well in this terrain but its not the best tire available however still a very good choice.

This tire performs exceptionally well in this terrain.  Among the best suited for this terrain.

Size Availability - This is a one to three thumbs up snapshot rating where one mean poor selection, two means ok and three means great.  Check with suppliers or manufacturers for actual available sizes.  While this rating system is vague, we couldn't possibly list all available sizes with size selection changing over time.  Please see manufacturer for list of sizes in production.

Money Bags - This is an average cost scale based on an averaged advertised cost of this tire when compared to other tires.  One money bag represents the tire is typically one of the cheapest available while 5 money bags indicates that this tire is one of the most expensive.  Averages are based on the tires reviewed.
