Review of the General Grabber AT2 All Terrain Tire

The General Grabber AT2 is General Tire's All-Terrain tire designed and developed for pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles that need a tire that will perform well in all conditions while providing a degree of offroad traction. General Tire designed the Grabber AT2 to meet these expectations and does provide exceptional traction over all-terrains in dry, wet and snowy conditions.  Highlighted features of the General The Grabber AT2 include a chip and tear resistant, highly siped all-terrain tread compound.  It's 5-Row Tread Pattern is highly siped to provide exceptional traction in it's class in wet weather conditions as well as in winter weather driving conditions.  The moderately aggressive computer optimized tread pattern helps the tire to remain relatively quiet during road and highway driving.  Internally the General Grabber AT2 carcass structure includes twin steel belts on top of a 2-ply polyester cord sidewall to combine strength and durability with a uniform ride.  Offroad the General Grabber AT2 performs well for an AT tire in most offroad terrain conditions.   In conditions such as dirt, gravel, forested trails and sand, the Grabber AT2 finds decent traction especially when aired down a little, allowing the tire to conform better around obstacles and terrains.  In mud the General Grabber AT2 does well for an AT until the mud becomes deep and thick, which then quickly clogs the tread voids and traction is minimized however this clogged tread scenario is common with most All Terrain tires and the Grabber AT2 is about average in this area when compared to other AT tires.  The Grabber AT2 is designed to do well in snow and as most users report, it does very well in winter driving conditions and the outer tread lugs are designed to accommodate studs for enhanced winter traction.  Size availability is good with many sizes to choose from and the Grabber AT2 is priced right for may budgets.

Manufacturers description of this tire:

An All-Terrain Tire with an Attitude

The Grabber AT2 has an aggressive tread pattern that provides extreme traction in the harshest environments.

Optimized 5-Row Tread Pattern: Five rows of aggressive, gripping, biting, self-cleaning tread lugs for commanding performance on and off the road.

Advanced Cut & Chip Resistant Tread Compound: 17/32" of the meanest, cut & chip resistant tread compound that enjoys running over rough terrain.

Square Tread Contour: Nothing square about this tire except the tread contour, when shape does matter for commanding surface contact.

Traction Ridges: When the trail gets sloppy, traction ridges at the base of every groove give added traction to pull you through.

Rim Protector Flange: When the trail gets tough, the built in rim protector shields your cherished rims from damage and repels debris from the bead to get you back home.

Snowflake Approved: No problem when the weather turns snowy. This snowflake approved tire chews and claws its way through.

Rating  Key - The star rating keys are specific to the terrain being rated in the review.  To the Top
Don't even consider it if this is your main terrain. This tire will not perform well at all in this terrain.

Its trying but not doing too well.  You'd be better off choosing another for this terrain.

Average.  Its doing ok, not great but its holding its own.  A decent choice if you're compromising.

This tire does very well in this terrain but its not the best tire available however still a very good choice.

This tire performs exceptionally well in this terrain.  Among the best suited for this terrain.

Size Availability - This is a one to three thumbs up snapshot rating where one mean poor selection, two means ok and three means great.  Check with suppliers or manufacturers for actual available sizes.  While this rating system is vague, we couldn't possibly list all available sizes with size selection changing over time.  Please see manufacturer for list of sizes in production.

Money Bags - This is an average cost scale based on an averaged advertised cost of this tire when compared to other tires.  One money bag represents the tire is typically one of the cheapest available while 5 money bags indicates that this tire is one of the most expensive.  Averages are based on the tires reviewed.
