The BA 10/5 is a light duty five speed transmission. It is smaller
than the AX-15 and it is manufactured by Peugeot in France. The case
splits lengthwise along the top and bottom, while the AX-15 splits
open around its circumference. The input shaft is 1 1/8" 10 spline and
the output shaft is 21 spline.
The BA 10/5 was used in all 4.2L equipped Wranglers from 1987 to
mid-1989. It was also used in 4.0L Cherokees (XJ) and Comanches (MJ)
over the same years.

10/5 doesn't have the regular ribbing on the driver's side
compared to the AX-5. The passenger side of the BA 10/5 does have
regular ribbing. The main case of the BA 10/5 is made of two
pieces bolted together, where as the AX-5 main case is one solid
piece of cast aluminum.
