Tera Low20 for Manual Transmissions
The Low20 for manual transmissions kit uses a six-spline input gear for Dana 20s with MANUAL transmissions. The kit converts the stock 2.03:1 to 3.15:1 for improved rock crawling performance. This five-gear kit fits 1963 through 1979 CJs, Jeepsters, Jeep trucks, Wagoneers, and 1972 through 1979 Scouts.
Made by Tera Manufacturing. Part# LOW20
A version of this kit is available for Broncos (Low20B) using manual transmissions with six-spline input gears. A similar gear set for the Dana #18 (Low18) is also available.
Gear Ratio Comparisons
Changing the transfer case gears from 2.03 to 3.15 has the same effect in low range as changing from 3.54 to 5.38 gears while leaving high range unchanged for good highway driving and without losing strength in the ring and pinion set.
Transmission | 1st gear Transfer case | Low Range Gearing Axle | Gears Final | Crawl Ratio
T18 (6.32) 2.03 5.38 69:1
T18 (6.32) 3.15 3.54 70:1
T18 (6.32) 3.15 5.38 107:1

Made all the difference in my Dana 20

If you have the dana 20 transfercase, switching from the ratio 2:1 to 3.15:1 will make all the difference. I swapped my gears in my Bronco 2 Dana 20 and I went from using the throttle too much to having control. I like wheeling rocks and slow, controlled momentum is so much better than revving it up to keep from stalling, then banging over the rocks. I went from driving like an amature to looking like a pro. I kept my axle gears at 3.54 so it's not too bad on the highway. The installation I did myself. It wasn't that hard of an install. I needed to grind a little of the casing like the instructions say but it wasn't anything difficult. The gears are beefy. Definitely worth the dollars to upgrade. - Jake
