The Midland 5001Z is a great radio. A good tech cam modify the dead key at 4 watts and swing it to 15 watts. The receive on this radio is also one of the best. Great bang for the buc.

This is a great radio, compact size and full of power. I shipped it to Dodgem at DM CB Radio Products and he tuned it up for me and converted it to 120 channels. Best little radio I have ever owned.

shipped mine to Dodgem at DM CB Radio Products and he did a complete peak and tune and now it's got 120 channels. It's a great small radio, just like the Cobra 25, well built, and is super loud with excellent receive gain too.

Pros:
Cobra 25 in a Midland badge
Cons:
Nearly all of them are factory remans

Well mine kept jumping to channel 9. Took it to a repair man (at this point it was 2 weeks old) and after a diagnosis and some research he discovered that it was caused by the board warping sending a false high to the IC. Would've cost $80 to fix, so I returned it and bought a peaked and tuned Cobra 25 LTD. The repairman even showed me the internal difference between the logic controlled Midland and the contact controlled Cobra.
