Review of the BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO
As with the BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A
KO is an extremely popular tire of choice for many 4wheelers who want decent
off-road performance while maintaining good street performance. This radial AT
with its highly siped semi-aggressive tread pattern and 3-ply sidewalls it is a
good choice for all-around use including dry loose dirt, light mud, sand, and
light to moderate rock crawling. While not as aggressive as its Mud Terrain
counterpart, this tire is a good performer in its class making it a very popular
choice as an OEM tire with Ford, General Motors, Toyota and Daimler-Chrysler.
As with BFG's other tires, the BFG All Terrain T/A KO has exceptional wear
qualities with a longer wear factor on the trail and on the street over most All
Terrain tires on the market. are somewhat vulnerable to sharp rocks. Sizes
available up to 37x12.50R18/D.Manufacturers

so many....great looking, performing, and high mileage tire!

PRICE!

Excellent tire for average daily use and for a little trail riding. I have these on a 2006 Mitsubishi Raider Durocross V8 4x4 and i'm at 42,000 miles and could still get to about 50,000....just need more tread before winter. Great tire with unexpected high mileage. They are a little on the pricey side but trust me....you will get your money back out of them when you realize that you get about 1.5-2x's the mileage out of them as any other A/T tire.

Wears well, capable on and off road,
|
|
Cons:
|
not a mud tire
|
|
I run 235/85 16's on my 2004 Silverado 2500HD with stock suspension. I drive 90% on pavement, but when I am off road I need capable tires. I always add some weight to the truck bed when I'm looking for traction in snow or ice on pavement, or when off-road. I just purchased my second set of these tires. The first set performed flawlessly for 110,000 km's. All on/off road tires are a compromise. I get good milage and predictable handling under all hard surface applications, and excellent performance on gravel and dirt roads. I do use the tire in true off road conditions including very deep mud. These tires have never let me down, but I do agree that deep sand and bottomless mud is beyond the design capabilites of these tires, as it is with any dual prupose tire, so I stay out of the deep stuff when I can and I carry a winch. In my opinion, for deep mud and sand only a specialized tire will do, and you have to put up with the noise, poor milage, tread squirm, rapid wear, poor handling and reduced wheel well clearance that comes with a full on mud tire.
I run relatively narrow 235'85's, and this helps a lot. My truck might look better with 285/75's, but the wider contact patch reduces traction, and this is a traction tire. It is one thing to compromise between on and off road service, and another to simply compromise performance for looks. When folks put overly wide/large tires on thier vehicles for asthetic reasons, it seems unfair to criticise the tire for poor performance.
This is a great tire, and for me, offers the best compromise between a road tire and an off-road tire, but putting the right sized tire on your vehicle for the kind of driving that you do is an extreemly important place to start.

Last Forever
|
|
Cons:

Cracks in sidewall, poor snow/ice traction
|
|
After a couple of years these tires developed serious cracks in the sidewalls. They also sucked in snow and ice. The tread does last forever, but who cares if you're able to see into the sidewall?

I have had these tires on my F150 for 70,000 plus miles. NO PROBLEMS. If I would have had my truck aligned properly these last few thousand miles, they would be good for at least another 10,000. I use them mostly for every day highway driving, but they have done great in the snow and off road. I am do for a new set of tires, and the price on these have went up 60.00 a piece since I
bought the last set. I am not going to be able to swing 1100.00 for them this time. I am looking at the Firestone Destination AT for 80.00 less a piece.

Pros:
|
Road, compacted dry dirt, rain, snow
|
|
Cons:
|
mud, soft dirt
|
|
I have a set of 35" BFG A/t's on my truck and they are excellent for a daily driver. They are nice and quiet, grippy, and responsive on road. They are good on hard-compacted dry dirt and decent in snow.
They fail completely in mud, as they ball up and turn into slicks; completely useless. Even on soft dirt, it will fill the small gaps of the A/t tire and effectively make a slick which has no traction at low speeds offroad (when you need it most).
If you plan to keep your SUV/Truck on the road, in snowy wet or dry climates, these are a great choice.
If you plan to go offroad, even only a few times, DO NOT GET THESE. YOU WILL GET STUCK SO OFTEN ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY
