PO put them on truck before i bought it. cant get them to wear fast enough to upgrade to mud tires. i guess that's a good thing. i've taken them offroad and hit up some fairly sharp rocks and no issues this far. i was worried of no sidewall protection.

Excellent off road traction and ruggedness on trails, rock, moderate mud. (Did not try deep mud or sand).
Accidentally ran on road with no damage at 10PSI.
VERY slippery on light snow over blacktop. Lots of side slip off angle on moderate snow but decent in deep snow. Nearly useless on ice.
Had a partial tread separation after 20k miles on one of the four.
Moderate noise and wear on highway. OK dry pavement handling. OK tread wear.
If you live in snow country have a set of snows for the winter, but use these babies for fun the remaining seasons.

Thes Came on my 2003 Blazer From the factory. It is now 2009 and they have 81,000 miles on them, and still going strong. I have rotated them often and plan on taking them to nearly 100,000 miles.

These are awesome looking tires with an incredible tough looking tread. I got the 235's on a GMC Canyon midsize truck. I was worried about off roading with a smaller truck but these tires rip right through mud, swampy water, and do well over rocks. In a smaller truck I do not recommend driving them on pavement unless you off road frequently. The tires are very noisy, and you have less control especially when making sharp turns. In a smaller truck you will definetly feel every lug on pavement and the ride will not be as smooth. I only use these bad boys when offroading and the winter.

The problem using these tires in places like the middle east is that they are designed for more moderate climates like those of the pacific north west of north america, where a heat wave might be 30C and it snows in the winter. Those tires are way too soft to use in the desert, and are a city tire, not an offroad tir...

These tires were stock on my 07 Polaris 800 X2. I have had to plug all 4 tires and replace one. I have since put a set of 6 ply Maxxis Mud Bugs on. It's a much better tire. The 489's can't take serious trail riding, the 3 plys are weak.
