Only a few miles up the road from Knoebels ... The
Centralia Mine Fire
Smoke rises out of the ground, the smell of sulfur is in the air, the ground collapses as homes are destroyed. Science fiction? Think again.
This is Centralia Pennsylvania, where a town was destroyed by a 44 year old mine fire. Read More

The Haunted House
The Haunted House was designed in the aftermath of hurricane Agnes of 1972.  The ride opened in 1973 to rave reviews and has since been named in several publications as one of the best dark rides anywhere.

Preserving the Trees

When Knoebels wanted to build where an existing beautiful tree stood, they did the obvious thing.  Build around it!

The original Entrance Years Ago

This is the original entrance to "Knoebels Grove" which is now located in the middle of the park.  Holding to Knoebels tradition of preserving its history, this old entrance way still stands in its original location and lights up at night. The roadway in front of this entrance was closed to public traffic and now acts as a midway.  Traffic to the "free" parking fields are routed along the side of the park and is named Knoebels Parkway.

Knoebels Amusement Park at Night!
When night falls on the park something special happens to this place.  Knoebel's transforms into an enchanting park with lighted rides and displays of color.  The tree cover give the park a summer night feeling of  camp ground family atmosphere.   More night photos

The Pioneer Train
The Knoebel's Pioneer Train ride is one of the longest anywhere with 1.5 miles of track  taking you out quite far into the woods and away from the park.  You might pass 1, maybe two other trains running on the same track coming back after  you departed the station.  Wave as you go by!  Under the roller coaster Twister, under a bridge and into the quite, tall canopy of the wooded PA valley.  You slow then loop around a feeding area for the squirrels and come back again towards the station again, passing another train (or two) on its way out.  The ride is a nice, cool, relaxing, quiet retreat to enjoy on a hot summer day.

Ol' Smokey
Knoebels has two Amusement Park style trains.  Old Smokey is located near the kiddie ride section with a shorter ride than the Pioneer Train however it is a lot of  fun as it runs through the Kiddie section.
