on the Rubicon Trail

We always have a lot of fun when we come up here regardless of what we do.  This time our autumn weekend up in the mountains of PA took place in two general areas as we accepted a friend's invitation to come wheel on the surrounding trails near his home.  Our first day took us about a 45 minute drive down the highway to a sleepy little mountain community.  A short drive down the road from his house and we were off on a 20 mile loop through some of the most beautiful countryside around.  Our friend Dick drove his Kubota side-by-side as we followed in an FJ Cruiser.  We were amazed at the number of trails that went on for miles in all directions as we tried to keep track of where we were on GPS.

The rest of the weekend was spent on our familiar trails deep in the hills of the Appalachians.  We had a few new friends come along for the fun with a couple of interesting vehicles, a bone stock Jeep Grand Cherokee and a ground up project Chevy Pickup with a fresh Chevy 350 and a seriously tough drive train that may someday become a serious monster.

The following 4 pages contain a few hundred photos of the weekend as well as a few short videos.  If you want to browser through a full-sized slideshow the of the weekend, just click on the first image at the top and use the arrow keys or just press play!  Enjoy!

Here's a really cool old, abandoned steel bridge!

We found an old trash dump in the middle of the woods.

Yep, we rolled a tire.  Went pretty far.

Really tight squeeze for an FJ!

Dinnertime!
