Autumn.  Our favorite time of year up here.  Trees are changing colors, temperatures are refreshingly chilly as the campfire burns bright.  Sometimes, as with this trip, the air is so clear that the Milkyway looks like a solid cloud stretching across the night sky and you can see satellites move across the sky.

We settled in for the first night, drug a few standing, dead trees over to the campfire and built a fire.  Without a moon, the night sky was lit with countless stars.

As sunrise, we headed down into town for breakfast suitable for a lumberjack.  A few quick stops and it was time to hit the trails.

Hitting the trails, we had a plan to head to one of the tallest hills around and have some fun with an old tire we brought up.  Navigating the valley, we stopped a few times, just to enjoy the view.
The Tire

Lee's Hill.  A long, 1/4 to 1/3 mile long, very steep hill.  Almost too steep to 4 wheel on.  And we're going to roll this old mud tire down the hill.  Not as easy as it seems since this hill is like a bowling alley, long and narrow.  But our plans are to roll it down, then go recover it.  Check out the video below!

The Hidden Valley

After scouting out a few trails below the well worn trail we normally come down, we finally found a small connecting trail that took us to the floor of the valley.   From there we discovered a beautiful valley with a large field bordering the stream. We then followed a trail that ran along the stream and came out on another trail we usually follow.  To our surprise, it was a complete loop of the valley!  One we had never known about, in 20 years of coming up here!  Along this route was a great swimming hole and incredible screnery.
