Description: Review of the General Grabber MT Mud Terrain Tire

A decent Mud Terrain tire for the price. That about sums it up for the General Grabber. The General Grabber MT is General Tire's solution to the offroad market for what they call "extremely difficult terrain". While we don't consider the General Grabber to be an "extreme" mud terrain tire when compared to the Mud Terrain tires on the market, it does hold it's own in off-road applications. The General Grabber MT is very similar to the average MT tire on the market in looks and performance. In the mud, it does decent while the tread is above it's half life. It's not the best in mud but a little better than average. The lack of sipes in the tread design does reduce it's potential traction somewhat on the road especially in wet weather driving although a lack of sipes is common in average MT tires. The tire does flex very well when aired down into the teens making it a good rock performer though the tire does lack sidewall protection but the 3 ply construction offers moderate protection from rocks and trail obstacles. The tire also does well in sand and snow. Overall when you look at the price and what you get for it, the General Grabber MT is a decent Mud Terrain tire for the price.

Pros: Cheap, versatile, great traction and looks
Cons: Howl a bit between 25 and 40 mph

I put these on my Liberty and on my 4Runner and I couldn't be happier. They wear extremely well, look good and are great on every surface I've had them on. I really enjoy them on snow.

Pros: Great traction on pavement, dirt, snow, tread life seems good
Cons: Semi noisy but who cares, treads can carry rocks, traction lacks on ice

This tire is kind of hard to find. But for a mid priced tire I'd say its worth the look. Looks good on my pick up truck!

Pros: Great lookin A/T tire with good overall traction on most surfaces
Cons: larger sizes need correct "E" load range not lesser. Ice traction poor.

Got a set of these on my '02 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4.Wanted a good A/T that was good in the snow-GREAT TIRE IN THE SNOW AND HWY FOLKS!**BEWARE**Tire shop had to order me 2 sets of tires(8)to get me 4 round ones to put on my truck!!Poor quality control.Maybe thats why customers say they are hard to find and often back ordered.Great value, over 18,000 mi with no issues.

Pros: Grip, tread wear
Cons: none yet

I've had 3 sets of these. Been through 2 sets on my 02 Landcruiser, i got 85k out of the first set and the current set have about 15k on them and are not even beginning to show signs of wear. My wife also has them on her 98 landcruiser she has put 45k on them and has used maybe 4mm of tread.

Used off road all the time, mud, trails, deep snow and lots of highway miles. I must say that on trails they are good, on mud they are as good as any other AT out there (perhaps even slightly better) but in snow they are unbeatable. I have never driven a tyre better in snow than these.

They are a good price, often a third less than the similar BFG product and after three sets i'm still waiting for them to show me a weakness!

My only concern is that the sidewalls are only two ply, having said that, i've not punctured a sidewall yet!

Pros: performance on mud
Cons: wear

Very good tyre especially in soft terrain.(mud)
Negative aspects are basically related to noise for on road use and it wears quite fast, so the performance is good only in the beginning. It losses the good offroad performance on mud quickly.

Pros: Excellent traction/value
Cons: none

Very impressive traction in bad weather, snow/rain. Wears incredably well 60,000 is atainable only if rotation is followed. Deep lug tread caused a floating sensation made a slight wander for first 10k and have to keep aired down to keep tread pattern on pavement tires are balloony shaped at 28psi I ran for 7 years replased at 56k
